Rugs can tie a room together just right, whether it be in your home or office, but every now and then they need to be cleaned with more than just a household vacuum. We are able to come to your home or office and restore almost any rug to the beauty it lost through the wear and tear of everyday activities. From a low moisture job to a full rinse, our advanced technology and experience can handle various rugs.
When we are presented with the carpet in question, we’ll determine the fabric type, quality and soiling to establish the cleaning method needed, as well as the cost of the job. Then, we’ll use a powerful oscillation machine and/or vacuum to loosen dry soil in the carpet. From there our technicians will vacuum the carpet with a low impact vacuum, and do the pre-spot and pre-condition. The machine scrub pre-conditioning is next if is necessary, otherwise, the wash and rinse with pure water step would be next. Finally, your rugs will go through a speed dry process, so that they can go back to tying the room together as quickly as possible.
How dirty is your rug?
- Pick up a corner of your rug, hold it up and strike the back of it sharply. If a cloud of dirt flies out, the rug needs to be cleaned (some dust/wool fibers are normal)
- You may also rub the pile vigorously for about 5-10 seconds, and if your hands are dirty, the rug needs to be cleaned
- Take a look down into the base of the rug at the foundation. If the warp and weft look dirty, there’s most likely dirt deep into the rug where a regular home vacuum can’t reach
Rug Cleaning Tips (D.I.Y.):
- Vacuum both sides of the rug well, at least once a week
- You may also buy rug soap/shampoo (but test for a color run first in a small area). Using a soft, long haired brush or a non-shedding sponge, and brush the pile firmly in a linear motion in the direction of the nap, but don’t scrub too hard. Wet the rug with soapy water, but don’t soak it.
- Wash the fringes with the same soap solution, and use a laundry brush to brush away from the pile
- Rinse the rug with running water
- Squeegee the pile repeatedly in the direction of the nap until no more water can be forced out
- Lay flat to dry, and once one side is dry flip it over
- When the rug is completely dry, lightly vacuum it
